Post RE: Sherry Vetterlein Class of 60,
Mr. Spangler
My name is Ann Randall and I'm the mistress of ceremonies for an upcoming political fundraiser for one of your high school classmates, Sherry Vetterlein. Sherry is now Representative Sherry Appleton, a member of the Washington State House of Representatives. I thought it would be fun to introduce the speakers (and in particular Sherry) by their high school biography. I was able to get some information from the Winter Park High School archives and the Class of 1959 who has done some considerable work on their web site. I was wondering if you could fill in any information/interesting tidbits from her senior year. 1960.
I see she was in the Thespian Club in her junior year, had a role in the school play and was on the honor roll. If you have any attachments to send, I would appreciate it as I'm planning on giving Sherry a copy of a small booklet of everything I researched at the end of my introduction.
The fundraiser is August 14th. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Hi Ann,
I am very pleased to send along a few photos from our yearbook that relate to one of my favorite high school classmates. Sherry was a wonderful friend of everyone. She was involved in many more activities than the annual reports. I remember her very well. As a red blooded young American male the first thing I remember was that she was very cute and had a wonderful friendly personality. She was an exceptional student with very high grades. I always wanted to sit next to her because she always had the home work assignments and kept me on schedule. I don't recall her ever missing a day of school. She was Tri-Hi-Y, future nurses, thespians and the National Honor Society. From the clubs she was asked to join you can see that she was a popular, intelligent, caring person with very high character. I am glad to hear that she is doing well. Please give her my regards and tell her that we are planning a 5oth reunion and her attendance will be appreciated by many of her classmates and friends here in Florida who miss her.

Post RE: Robie Vestal Class of 60,
Robie Vestal died (8/4/92) of cancer that he contracted from his research on the impact of the oil spills on the Tundra, while working in Alaska and Antarctica. In 1992 he received the Rieveschi Award for Distinguished Scientific Service. (Dr. Bender would have been so proud of him!). The following photo appeared in the "UC Bearcat" published by the University of Cincinnati.

We've all heard of the famous secret society called the "Skull and Bones". There is rumored to be another secret group called the " The Order of The Gray Cats".

Then and now- We may not have gone where we intended to go. But I think most of us have ended up where we intended to be. Go Cats!
